In order to make reports more manageable Flatstats has introduced the 'Snapshot' facility. This facility allows you to save a report and instantly recall the report any time you want to.
How to Create a Snapshot
First you need to turn snapshot feature on. You can do this from any of the sire, horse, trainer, jockey, owner or race stats pages which are available from the left hand menu. Once you have clicked a section look for the Snapshot box on the right hand side of the screen and click the box to turn the feature on.

The next step is to create your report. In this example we will use the sire Pivotal so enter Pivotal in the box and click Search.
Once the form is loaded click the Go button and see the report which shows all of Pivotal's runners on the turf. Notice at the top of the report a new box has appeared. This is the section which allows you to create the snapshot.

The report automatically enters the name of the sire as the Name for the snapshot but you can change this to anything you want.
You should always enter something in the Notes section so that you know what the snapshot is about. In this example enter "Stats for Pivotal on the Flat Turf". Ignore the dates and alert option for now (alerts are covered in a seperate guide). Just click the Create Snapshot button to create the snapshot. What you should see next is the confirmation page:

Close the confirmation box and return to the Sire Stats page. Reload this page by pressing Reload / Refresh in your browser. You should now see that Pivotal is listed as one of your snapshots in the right hand box.
Any time you want to call up the report for Pivotal you just need to click the name in the snapshot box.
You can test this by searching for a different sire. In the Search box at the top of the form enter Tenby and click the search button. This loads all the data for sire Tenby. If you click the Go button you will see the stats for his runners.
Now back on the Sire stats form page load your Pivotal snapshot by clicking his name in the snapshot box on the right of the page. What happens now is that the data for Pivotal is loaded.
More Detailed Snapshots
Snapshots are really useful when you have a lot of options configured. Let's say you wanted to see the results of Pivotal runners in softish ground sprint races. It would be a bit tedious to keep on entering this information everytime you wanted to check it so just create a snapshot and the report settings will be saved.
From the sire stats page (with Pivotal loaded) scroll down to the Distance section and change distance range from 5f to 7 1/2f (or just click the sprints link). Next scroll down to the Going section and remove the ticks for Firm, GdFm and Good so that only GdSft, Soft and Heavy are selected.

If you now click Go you will see the results for Pivotal runners in sprint distances when the going was softer than good.
This time you have the option to update the snapshot. Start by changing the name to "Pivotal Soft Ground Sprints", and change the Notes to "Stats for Pivotal in sprints when the going is softer than good". Next click the Update Snapshot button.
This will now update the snapshot with the requested options. If in a months time you want to check the performance of that particular stat just click the snapshot to load it up and see the results.
