Re: Betfair Rapid
Looks useful.
I wonder why you have to download the app though - all that can be done in the browser. And why the heck does it need 6Gb of free space?
The live horseracing updates seems to be the same as the Betfair / Timeform Live Updates page. This is now so unreliable I won't even look at it. There are just too many mistakes with it.

When you say it looks useful PP--What does Betfair Rapid do--or rather what can you do with it?

Re: Betfair Rapid
Betfair Rapid is similar to the Gruss betfair app.
You can set the odds to update much more quicker than online: refresh in milliseconds or so.
You can do one click betting. This is for itchy trigger finger punters.
You can set timers on bets to cancel if not matched after so many seconds etc.
What Betfair do not do but other sites have done is batch betting. This is where you feed a list of horses in csv type format and let it place the bets for you. This would be a much more useful feature for punters who do not have API programming knowledge.

Re: Betfair Rapid
Thanks for that explanation PP sounds like those i-phone applications- loads of them - many brilliant-- but of no use to me and my betting methods.
I would like an application to put a staggered lay in running. Say I have backed Horse X at 34-1 the app automatically sets up a series of lays so much at 8.1 -1 so much at 6.7 -1 so much at 3,7 to 1 so much at 1.25 to 1 etc (for example) .
Is this something that could be worthwhile?

Re: Betfair Rapid
Something like that would be easy to code up.
I use PHP scripting language to place auto bets. It is easy to do for me but I there is no userfriendly front end.
It would also be easy to find a coder to write an app but you must come up with the right formula first.
There must be some optimum Kelly type formula to do this. Offer a lay too high and you are more likely to get matched but will return less profit. Offer a lay too low and you may not get matched - and if your bet doesn't get matched your original 34-1 bet loses!

Re: Betfair Rapid
If anybody is serious about trading then you really should be looking at an app. that has a ladder interface. The free ones at the moment are: Betdruid for Betfair/Betdaq (mine doesn't seem to work on Betdaq and support is zero) or DaqBot for Betdaq. Daqbot has some nice features on it like refresh rates down to 0.52 sec, multiple ladders, one-click betting, profit/loss indicators and 'smart trading' settings. Betdaq could do with more liquidity on most of its markets though.

Thanks for the head up on Betdruid. Hadn't heard of it previously and if stable enough will certainly beat £30 per month for Bet Angel.
Cheers
